(American, 1862-1938) Portrait of George Dempsey , 1929 oil on canvas signed Tarbell and dated (lower right) 30 x 25 inches. Work is housed in a Walfred Thulin (American, 1878-1949) frame measuring 38 1/2 x 33 inches. Inscribed Thulin and dated 1929 on verso. Generally good stable condition overall; light stretcher mark across top; surface dirt and varnish overall; under UV evidence of scattered retouch particularly to outer edges of canvas.
