$8,320
A Johnny Cash black wool Nudie’s shirt. The long-sleeve button-down shirt was worn by Cash in the studio circa 1960. The shirt features two exterior breast pockets and Nudie’s Rodeo Tailors label, no size present. Cash was photographed wearing this shirt while recording in the studio, and those images became promotional photographs for Cash in the 1960s. In 1962, the shirt was given to Melba Halvorsen, a regional Johnny Cash Fan Club coordinator. The shirt has been in the possession of the Halvorsen family since that time. Accompanied by a letter from Betty Siegfried, personal assistant to Johnny Cash, written on Johnny Cash Fan Club stationery and dated November 2, 1962, stating that Cash left the shirt for Siegfried to mail to Halvorsen, and the original transmittal packaging with Johnny Cash Inc. return label and postmark.
