A silverplated trophy cup on a turned wood base owned by Pelé. The foot of the cup is engraved "Schnellste Runde" [Fastest Lap], and affixed to the wood base is a metal plaque that reads "Grosser Preis von Österreich - Österreichring 10-13/8/1972 - Ehrenpreis der Elan AG" [Grand Prix of Austria - Österreichring Race Track, August 10-13, 1972 - The Prize of Elan Corporation]. The trophy was perhaps originally meant to be awarded to the Brazilian, Emerson Fittipaldi, winner of the Grand Prix and a driver for Team Lotus (manufacturer of the Elan), but the current published stats show that the fastest lap was achieved by New Zealander Denny Hulme, who was driving for Team McLaren. 17 3/8 by 10 by 6 3/4 inches $800-1,200 £560-840 Categories: PELÉ
