An Order of Aeronautical Merit [Ordem do Mérito Aeronáutic] medal presented to Pelé on October 23, 1995. This award from the Brazilian Air Force was established in 1943. The order is presented in five grades and recognizes distinguished service and exceptional contributions to the Brazilian Air Force. Pelé's award is of the second-highest grade, Grand Officer. The Merit is accompanied by a miniature version of the medal with ribbon and the Grand Officer rank rosette button, a "Merito Aeronautico" pin with pin back, and a button-hole rosette.
