A gold tone medallion presented to Pelé by the Confederação Brasileira de Desportos [Brazilian Confederation of Sports] as a member of the Taça Brazil [Brazil Cup] Championship-winning Santos FC. The Taça Brazil was the national championship of Brazilian club football. It was a tournament held from 1959 to 1968, and was founded to enable Brazil to provide a national champion for the Copa Libertadores de América [Liberators of America Cup]. The Copa Libertadores de América is the championship of South American football, featuring the best club teams from each country in South America. The medal features an athlete and soccer ball framed by laurels above and wings below. The C.B.D. emblem appears at the bottom in enamel. The back of the medallion features the words "Confederação Brasileira de Desportos/ Campeonato Brasileiro/ 1. Lugar" [Brazilian Sports Confederation/ Brazilian Championship / 1st Place]. Santos FC won the Taça Brazil with Pelé for five straight years from 1961 to 1965, and was victorious in the Copa Libertadores in 1962 and 1963.
