A silver tone isosceles trapezoid shaped medal presented to Pelé for participating, along with his Santos FC teammates, in the "Copa Valencia" [Valencia Cup] football tournament, held in Valencia, Spain, in June 1959. The tournament consisted of only three teams: Santos, Valencia CF of Spain, and F.C. Internazionale Milano of Italy (known outside of Italy as "Internazionale," simply "Inter," or "Inter Milan"). Santos played two matches in the tournament. The first was a 4-4 draw versus Valencia on June 24, and the second was a 7-1 victory over Inter Milan on June 26. Santos was declared the tournament champion. The medal features a column topped with an allegorical sculpture on the obverse, with the words "Copa Valencia" at the top of the column and "Valencia/ Santos/ Milan/ 1959" near the bottom of the column.
