A yellow and green satin sash with gold bullion fringe presented to Pelé by the Confederação Brasileira de Desportos (CBD) [The Brazilian Confederation of Sports] commemorating Brazil’s legendary 1958 FIFA World Cup victory. The sash features the title "Campeão do Mundo" [Champion of the World] and the year "1958" embroidered in green lettering and a rosette with an embroidered CBD logo. The 1958 World Cup marked Pelé’s first appearance in the global spotlight. At just 17 years old, he was the youngest player and youngest scorer ever to play in a World Cup final. "This is a sash from 1958, and I have to thank my parents for it. After we won the 1958 World Cup, we returned to Brazil and expected a great party. During the celebrations, I lost the sash. I didn’t know where it was. My mom later said, “You didn’t lose it. During the party, I took it from you before you went celebrating. I’ve kept the sash with me since 1958.” I thought I had lost it. However, my mother kept it safe, the sash from the world title and my first ever World Cup, the 1958 edition in Sweden. My mother had kept it all these years." - Pelé 35 by 7 inches $10,000-20,000 £7,000-14,000 Categories: PELÉ
