A 1959 Gretsch Country Gentleman guitar used by Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics while performing with U2’s The Edge and Bono for the televised benefit concert America : A Tribute to Heroes (2001). The program aired live simultaneously on more than 30 networks 10 days after the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City. Their performance was in London and beamed via satellite. The Gretsch was rented from Harris Hire in Beckenham, England. The guitar, serial number 58162, features standard original Grover step machine heads, circular mechanical dual mute pads, original gold tone Bigsby Gretsch tremolo, Filter’Tron humbucking pickups, original grey two-tone case and original back pad. The guitar is accompanied by a letter from Phil Harris of Harris Hire and rental documents showing that the guitar was additionally rented by Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders in 2015.
