James Emile Bourquin (American, 1875 - 1956) oil on board depicting a winter landscape; signed to bottom left corner; measures approximately 32" in height with width of 25-3/4" in ornate gilded frame and has a sight image of approximately 23-7/8" in height with width of 17-3/4"; in Good overall condition.James Emile Bourquin was active & lived in New York, Oklahoma, & Switzerland, and is known for painting. His family moved to Horton, KS in 1888 where his father operated a jewelry store. Borquin worked in St. joseph, MO., Omaha, NE., and Illinois before moving to New York, NY in the early 1920s. There he worked as an accountant and played flute in a New York orchestra. As a member of the Brox Artists Guild, he exhibited in the Kansas City Public Library, with the Artists Guild of New York in 1923, the National Arts Club in 1926, & the Society of Independent Artists from 1919 to 1943.
