Robert Draper (American, 1938-2000) landscape watercolor, signed to bottom right corner "Robert Draper" and labeled verso with title "All the Way to Black Mountain Sqaw Dance" (probably typo for "squaw"); measures approximately 22" x 17-1/2" with gilded frame and has a sight image of approximately 14-1/2" x 10-1/2"; in Good overall condition. Born in Canyon del Muerto, New Mexico, Robert Draper is from the Navajo-Laguna Pueblo. Mainly self-taught, he has worked as an art instructor at the Chinle Boarding School and settled in Chinle. He paints realistic watercolor landscapes and genre of the Navajo Reservation. A favorite subject is Canyon de Chelly.
