"The Imperator" Vacheron & Constantin, Geneve, No. 365634, case No. 224325. Made in 1912. Very fine and rare, large, hunting-cased, keyless, 18K yellow gold pocket watch. Four-body, "bassine", solid, frosted, the front cover with a finely engraved foliate monogram. Hinged gold cuvette. White enamel with bold-painted Paris numerals, outer minute track, large subsidiary seconds dial. Gold “spade" hands. Cal. RA 20’’, frosted gilt, 18 jewels, wolf’s tooth winding, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Dial, case and movement signed. Diam. 57 mm. Notes The name “Imperator” was never used officially, but only appeared on Vacheron & Constantin documents. Its production lasted from 1898 to 1919. The Imperator was designed as a robust “impermeable” watch, 98% of which were hunting- cased.
