"Tiffany Split Seconds Chronograph" Tiffany & Co. , New York, No. 16004. Made circa 1890. Very fine, keyless, 18K yellow gold pocket watch with split-seconds chronograph and regulator dial. Four-body, “demi-bassine”, solid, polished, rectangular pusher on the band at 11 for the split-seconds function, bolt for locking the chronograph, the back cover with engraved monogram. Hinged gold cuvette. White enamel, eccentric with painted radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, outermost seconds and1/5 seconds divisions with red Arabic 5-minute/seconds numerals, subsidiary seconds at 3. Blued steel "Breguet" hands. Notes Tiffany & Co. was founded in 1837 by the young Lewis Tiffany, aged 25. Around 1870 the company established a movement manufacturing plant in Geneva. The unusual chronograph work of this watch, as well as the hihg quality and finish of its movement, make it particularly desirable for collectors.
