JAEGER-LECOULTRE MARINA RARE DOUBLE CARAVELLE TABLE CLOCK Jaeger-LeCoultre, "Marina", Ref. 491. Made circa 1963. Fine and extremely rare, gold-plated brass and plexiglass, 8-day going table clock with two hand-engraved caravelles. Accompanied by the Extract from the Archives. Rectangular, polished and brushed gold-plated brass framework, flanking the clock on each side a Perspex (Lucite) hand-engraved "Caravelle" panel with white background. White plexiglass with applied polished and brushed gold-plated brass hour indexes. Gold-plated Dauphine hands. Cal. 201, baguette, 16 jewels, train running in straight line in small two bar frame, straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance with self-compensating Breguet balance spring. Glass signed, base punched with the reference number. Notes HEIGHT 22 cm. length 41 cm. DEPTH 4 cm. The present clock is an extremely rare version of the famous Jaeger -LeCoultre Marina Caravele . Of large-size with two Lucite blocks flanking the dial, each hand-engraved with the Caravelle in full sail. It would appear that this clock is the first of its type to be offered at auction.
