Fine and extremely rare, water-resistant, stainless steel wristwatch with round button chronograph, registers, tachometer Three-body, polished and brushed, screw-down case back and winding crown, tachometer graduation on the steel bezel to 200 units per hour. Bicolor off-white and black with applied square steel indexes and luminous dots, outer red 1/5th seconds divisions, subsidiary guilloché dials for the seconds, the 12-hour and 30-minute registers. Luminous steel baton hands. Cal. 722-1, rhodium-plated, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance adjusted to 3 positions, shock absorber, self-compensating free-sprung Breguet balance spring, Microstella regulating screws. Indeed for collectors it doesn't get much more iconic than this example, a Paul Newman 6239 in steel with the very desirable Tiffany & Co signature on the dial. Only two other example have surfaced at auction in the past 15 years ( See November Geneva 2013, lot 581 for the last example sold) and bears the exact same location of the signature on the dial and interestingly the exact same location of the dot after the & Co at almost half the HEIGHT of the signature.
