Battin & Co. (American (Newark, New Jersey), 1896-1922), circa 1915-1920. Finely handled ornate lorgnette case of elongated shaped form with hinged top engraved with scrolled foliates, columns, laurel wreaths and leaved swags, domed oblong cartouche at center with three letter script monogram. Hinged top opens to reveal green velvet lined interior with pair of nose rest, wire rimmed lorgnettes or spectacles within. Marked on interior front edge with "14K", acid tested for 14k quality. Also marked with B with trident indicating Battin & Co. as maker. Overall measures approximately 1.875" x 4.25". Total weight approximately 51.8 grams. Provenance: Property from the Heisey Estate (of Heisey Glass Company), Newark, Ohio.
