“Courvoisier Patent Winding” Patek Philippe & Co, Genève, No. 88936, case No. 213489. Made in 1890, sold on May 28, 1895. Very fine and rare, silver, half open-faced, keyless pocket watch with stem winding invented by O. Courvoisier, English patent No. 1114 of 1873. Accompanied by the original Patek Philippe morocco fitted box, original Certificat d’Origine, spare crystal and the Extract from the Archives. Four-body, “demi-bassine”, polished, detachable top bezel. Dedicated silver cuvette. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track. Blued steel “spade” hands. 19’’’, frosted gilt, bar caliber, 17 jewels, Courvoisier patent winding, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator. Dial and cuvette signed, movement and case number. Diam. 53 mm. From the Collection of a Spanish Gentleman Notes The unusual stem winding used in this watch was invented by O.
