Very fine and rare, rectangular, 18K yellow and pink gold gentleman's wristwatch with hooded barrel lugs and a yellow gold Vacheron & Constantin buckle. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. Two-body, solid, polished, cylindrical pink gold hooded lugs, case back with dedication inscription. Matte and burnished gilt with burnished gold indexes and Arabic numerals. Pink gold “èpée” hands. Cal. 20 x 26, tonneau, rhodium plated, “fausses côtes” decoration, 17 jewels, lever escapement, berylliumbalance with timing screws, adjusted to temperature and three positions, self-compensating flat balance-spring,index regulator.Dial, case and movement signed.Dim. 22 x 40 mm. Thickness: 7.3 mm. Notes This watch was most likely made upon special request by a client or an agent. Its design and dial are characteristic of the Art Deco style. In its execution, one can see a strong influence of the pre-war period, as well as hints of the styles to come during the 1950s and the most popular watch of that period: the rectangular “fantaisie” watch.
