Vacheron & Constantin, Genève, No. 370774, case No. 230065. Made in 1916. Very fine and extremely rare, tonneau-shaped, platinum, diamond and enamel lady's wristwatch with matching platinum and diamond expandable bracelet. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. Two-body, solid, hinged, bezel and triangular lugs set with diamonds, case band engraved with laurel leafwreath on the border. Two-tone, matte, silvered with painted Roman numerals. Blued steel Breguet hands. Notes Simple, elegant and “avant-garde” for its time, the design of this unique model is noteworthy for its richness of detail and its extreme elegance that juxtaposes platinum, delicate enamel decoration and diamonds: dazzling white on white, with just a hint of sky blue. The expandable bracelet, both practical and elegant, was a novelty at the time, and stood out among the more common ribbon bracelets. Models of such elegance can only be compared with the creations of the greatest Parisian jewelers of the period, offereing further proof that Vacheron Constantin was the most “French” of all the Swiss watchmakers of the time. The present watch, prior to enameling and diamond setting, is illustrated in “The World of Vacheron Constantin”, p. 299.
