Two body, "Empire"" style, solid, matte, lobed central and mobile lugs, transparent case back. Brushed silverwith tritium coated radial Arabic numerals, subsidiary dials for the seconds, the 12-hour and 30-minute registers,aperture for the date. Tritium coated "alpha" hands. Cal. 31C6.S-CH, rhodium plated, "fausses côtes" decoration,63 jewels, straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance, shock-absorber, self-compensating flatbalance spring, 18K gold rotor. Zalium - a new material The introduction of Zalium for the Harry Winston rare timepieces collection is the idea of Ronald Winston , an inventor in alloys. Ronald Winston’s field ranges from jewelry to aerospace. Fascinated by an alloy unknown outside the aerospace industry, he named it Zalium, for zirconium (Zr), its major component, and the allium lily. Used in jet engines, it is a material unlike any other, and it had never been seen in watchmaking. It is much harder than titanium and extremely difficult to work. The case
