“Black Dial” Patek Philippe & Cie, Genève, No. 868722, case No. 686370, Ref. 1463. Made in 1954, sold on July 30, 1955. Very fine and extremely rare, water-resistant, 18K yellow gold gentleman's wrist-watch with round button chronograph, register and tachometer. Accompanied by an 18K yellow gold Patek Philippe ribbed bracelet and a fitted box. Accompanied by the Extract from the Archives. Two-body, solid, polished and brushed, screwed case back, dust protecting cap. Black with applied yellow gold indexes and Arabic numerals for 12 and 6, auxiliaryseconds and 30-minute register dials, outer tachometer graduation and concentric fifthsof a second and minutes tracks. Yellow gold “feuille” hands. Notes It is very rare to find a watch with this reference in such exceptional condition. In addition, its black dial makes it extremely desirable for collectors. II, pp. 204 to 210. Seal of Geneva Quality Mark The best Geneva movements were punched with the Seal of Geneva Quality Mark. This is a trademark of the Office of Geneva Control of Watches established on November 6, 1886. Paragraph 3 of the statutes states that the watches awarded the Seal of Geneva Quality Mark must "after examination prove to have a perfect mechanism to ensure regular and durable functioning".
