Ate. Boussard, Toulouse, circa 1820. Very fine and rare 18K gold, triple-train, independent dead-seconds pocket watch with quarter-repeating. Four-body, “Empire”, engine-turned, gilt hinged cuvette. White enamel, Breguet numerals, outer minute divisions.Blued steel Breguet hands. 52 mm (23’’’), frosted gilt, doublestanding barrels with continuous stop works, cylinder escapement,three-arm white alloy balance with flat balance spring,balance and escape wheel jeweled, temperature compensationcurb, repeating on gongs by depressing the pendant.Signed on dial and cuvette.Diam. 58 mm. Notes Boussard Established in Toulouse, in 1825 he registered a patent for a “perfected clock movement”, and in 1847 he registered a patent for a winding and stopping system applicable to clocks. He invented interesting stop works which were received with considerable favor. He died prior to 1851.
