Double-body, Louis XV with box hinge, the bezels with chased and engraved holly leaf and berry decoration,the back with a painted on enamel depiction of Minerva teaching a young maiden in an extensive landscape withclassical ruins in the background, opalescent guilloché enamel sky. White enamel with radial Roman numerals,outer minute divisions with Arabic five minutes. Gold “Louis XV” hands. Cal. 19’’’ hinged, gilt brass fullplate with cylindrical pillars, chain fusée, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance springand pearced and engraved continental cock. Signed on the back plate, case numbered and stamped with an illegiblemakers mark.Diam. 53 mm. Notes Daniel Vaucher, made Master in 1867, is listed as working in Paris at Rue St. Pierre aux Boeufs from 1769-1790.
