Very fine and very rare, eight-day mahogany and brass-cased marine chronometer with power reserve indication. Two-body solid mahogany box with sliding observation panel in the lid. Brass handles and fittings. The movement mounted in a cylindrical brass bowl and suspended within shaped square gimbals. Matte silvered, eccentric, signed “Breguet Neveu & Comp., No. 3219,” radial Roman numerals and outer dot minute markers, symmetrically positioned subsidiary seconds ring, power-reserve sector on the right. Blued steel Breguet hands. Brass, three-quarter plate with spotted finish and turned pillars, fusee and chain, maintaining power, navette-shaped platform with spring detent escapement, No. 21, bimetallic two-arm, free-sprung compensation balance with cylindrical weights and peripheral adjustment screws, blued steel helical balance spring with terminal curves and adjustable stud. Dial signed. Diam of dial: 125 mm. Dim. 210 x 210 x 220 mm. Notes Monsieur Ducom was from Bordeaux and was Breguet’s principal agent in the region. This chronometer was bought back from Ducom on April 27, 1819, it was again sent to Ducom on September 22, 1819 at a price of 2700 Francs.
