“Mock Pendulum” Ribart Fils a Aix. Made circa 1690. Very fine and extremely rare, leather-covered gilt metal single-hand "oignon" watch with alarm. Two-body, "oignon", leather-covered, gold pinwork rosette in the center of the back, bezel with circular sound holes, foliate pierced and chased band under the bezel. Gilt metal with radial Roman numerals, inner half-hour markers, inner rotating alarm dial, center with chased foliage. Blued steel hand. 40 mm, hinged, gilt full plate with divided Egyptian pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement with steel balance and short balance-spring, steel alarm train with foliate engraved barrel and double-ended hammer striking on a bell in the back of the case. Louis XIV cock with aperture for the mock pendulum and engraved with grotesque masks and foliage, rack-type type regulator. Signed on the movement. Diam. 58 mm.
