“Retour d’Egypte” Breguet, No. 586. Made circa 1890. Very fine and unusual, gilt brass and lapis lazuli hour and half-hour striking, quarter-repeating carriage clock with alarm, in “Retour d’Egypte” style. Accompanied by the original leather covered, velvet lined fitted travelling case. Four-body, very finely cast, pierced and chased with stylised foliage, hinged foliate handle, mounted on all four sides and the top with panels of lapis lazuli, hinged back door. Circular, matte silvered with painted dauphine numerals, outer minute track, engineturned center. Blued steel Breguet hands. Rectangular, gilt brass, going barrels, platform lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator, white enamel alarm dial with Arabic numerals and blued steel hand mounted on the backplate, striking and repeating on a gong. Dial and movement signed and numbered. Dim. 13 x 8.5 x 8 cm. excluding the handle.
