“Up-and-Down Deck Chronometer” Vacheron & Constantin, Genève, No. 450716, case No. 284645. Made in the 1940s. Very fine, rare and large, silver, keyless deck and pocket chronometer with power-reserve indicator. Four-body, “bassine", polished, hinged silver cuvette. Matte silver with painted Arabic numerals, up-and-down indication at 12, subsidiary seconds dial. Blued-steel "spade" hands. Cal. 162, gilt, "fausses côtes" decoration, 18 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic Anibal brass Guillaume balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, “swan-neck” micrometer regulator.
