So-called "Jumbo Prince" Rolex Chronometer, "Prince Brancard", Ref. 1690 UF. Produced in the 1930s. Extremely rare and very fine, elongated curved and flared rectangular yellow and white gold gentleman's Art Deco wristwatch. Two-body, polished white gold body and back, yellow gold stepped sides and flared lugs, domed crystal. Matte silver with painted Arabic 12 and bâton indexes, subsidiary seconds. Blued steel "scotties" hands. Cal. 1070 “Extra Prima”, rhodium plated, 18 jewels, lateral lever escapement, monometallic balance, 6 adjustments, self-compensating Breguet balance-spring. Dial, case and movement signed. Dim. 26 x 48 mm. Thickness 9 mm. Notes We know of only three examples of the “Jumbo Prince Brancard”. Two examples in stainless steel; the first was sold by Antiquorum, Hong Kong, on June 9, 2001, lot 430, and then again by Antiquorum, Geneva, on October 24, 2004, lot 141.
