“Saint Peter’s Basilica” Courvoisier & Comp, La Chaux-de-Fonds, No. 1840. Made for the Italian market circa 1840. Fine 18K gold, double-train independent dead-seconds pocket watch. Four-body, “bassine” with coin-edge band, chased and engraved bezels, the back engraved with a view of St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican in Rome, gold hinged cuvette. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute/dead-seconds divisions. Gold Breguet hands.
