“Yellow Calatrava Ref. 533” Patek Philippe & Cie, Genève, No. 868530, case No. 672201, Ref. 533. Made in 1953, sold on May 24th, 1954. Very fine and rare, 18K yellow gold gentleman's wristwatch with square button chronograph, 30- minute register, tachometer and an 18K yellow gold Patek Philippe buckle. Accompanied by an Extract from the Archives. Three-body, solid, polished, flat bezel, concave lugs. Matte silver with applied yellow gold IV and XII and bâton indexes, subsidiary dials for the seconds and the 30- minute register, outer 1/5th seconds chronograph divisions and outermost tachometer scale. Yellow gold "baton" hands. Notes The dial of the present lot has an interesting “Two-Tone” effect due to the way the dial has aged. The result is a very attractive patina which closely resembles the two-tone dials of the 1930s. Ref. 533 Production of this reference began in 1937. It is identical to Ref. 130 with the exception of the bezel, which is flat, whereas Ref. 130 has a concave bezel.
