“Black and White Stripes” Breguet, No. 4418. Made circa 1910. Very fine, miniature, minute-repeating and eight-day going silver gilt and enamel desk clock with the original Breguet leather-covered traveling case. Rectangular, silver-gilt and decorated with black and white champlevé enamel stripes, curved hinged handle decorated to match, black onyx repeat button, polished bezel with a black enamel band, stepped and molded base with reeded ribbon bound decoration, raised on bracket feet. Silver, engine-turned with luminous upright Arabic numerals, outer minute track. Luminous “skeleton” hands. 18’’’, gilt brass watch movement fitted within a brass frame, the large going barrel fitted behind, 18 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, rack and pinion regulator extending to a disc on the base of the case, repeating on gongs activated by depressing a button on the top of the case.
