Ref. 6234 Gold “Medical Chronograph” Rolex, “Oyster, Chronographe, Anti-magnetique”, Ref. 6234. Case No.166680. Made in 1956 and retailed by Serpico Y Laino (Caracas, Venezuela). Very fine and equally rare, tonneau-shaped, water-resistant, 18K yellow gold gentleman’s wristwatch with round button chronograph, registers, pulsation scale and a Rolex gold-plated buckle. Three-body, polished and brushed, screwed-down case back and crown, inclined bezel. Off-white with applied yellow gold faceted baton indexes, luminous dot markers, outer minutes and seconds divisions with fifths of a second divisions, outermost blue pulsation scale graduated for 30 pulsations, subsidiary dials for the seconds, the 12- hour and 30-minute registers. Luminous yellow gold “Alpha” hands. Cal. 72, 13’’’, rhodium-plated, 17 jewels, straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance, self-compensating Breguet balance-spring, shock-absorber, index regulator. Dial, case and movement signed. Diam. 36 mm. Thickness 14 mm. Notes Reference 6234 appears in the Rolex catalogue until 1963. The rarity of this chronograph is heightened by the pulsometer scale and the retailer’s name on the dial.
