Ref. 6240 Stainless Steel “Cosmograph” Rolex, “Oyster, Cosmograph", Ref. 6240. Case No. 1439082. Made in 1966. Fine and rare, water-resistant, stainless steel gentleman's wristwatch with round button chronograph, registers, anti-reflective black bezel with tachometer and a stainless steel Rolex Oyster bracelet. Three-body, polished and brushed, screwed-down case back, push buttons and crown, tachometer graduation on the anti-reflective bezel to 200 units per hour. Bi-colored silver and black with applied bâton steel indexes, luminous dots, outer minute/seconds divisions, subsidiary dials for the seconds, the 12-hour and 30-minute registers. Luminous steel "bâton" hands. Cal. 722, rhodium plated, 17 jewels, straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance, shock-absorber, self-compensating Breguet balance-spring, Microstella regulating screws. Dial, case and movement signed. Diam. 37 mm. Thickness 13.5 mm. Notes Reference 6240, the first chronograph with screw-down pushers, was produced from 1965 to 1969 in stainless steel only and can be considered the forerunner to the 6262, 6263 and 6265 series of watches.
