Made in 1987 for the Winn Dixie Transportation Company’s “10 Year Safe Driver” award. Fine, center seconds, self-winding, water-resistant, stainless steel gentleman's wristwatch with a stainless steel Oyster bracelet. Three-body, polished and brushed, screwed-down case back and crown. Satiné silver with “Winn Dixie. Safe Driver, 10 YRS” logo, applied steel bâton indexes luminous dots and outer minute/seconds track. Luminous steel "bâton" hands. Cal. 1520, rhodium-plated, "oeil-de-perdrix" decoration, 26 jewels, straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance, shock-absorber, self-compensating flat balance-spring. Dial, case and movement signed. Diam. 34 mm. Thickness 12.5 mm. Notes Reference 5500 was produced from 1957 to1990 and was marketed as the “Air-King”, the “Metropolitan” and as the “Explorer, Precision”. The present watch is one of a series of watches ordered by different companies with their logo on the dial for presentation purposes. The present lot bears two reference numbers, 5500 on the body of the watch, which refers to the specific characteristics of this watch, and ref 1002 in the case back, which refers to the series of references to which it belongs. The case bodies and backs were interchangeable at the factory. This watch, part of the Mondani Collection, is not illustrated in the Mondani Rolex book but is identical to the watch
