Ref. 4062 So-called “Coin-Edge” Rolex, “Chronographe, Antimagnétique", Ref. 4062. Case No. 919916. Made in 1962. Very fine, oversized, 18K yellow gold gentleman’s wristwatch with black dial, square button chronograph, register, tachometer, telemeter and the original Rolex leather strap and gold-plated buckle. Three-body, solid, polished, coin-edge band and thin teardrop lugs, sloped bezel and snap-on back. Gloss black, applied yellow gold luminous tipped dart indexes, outer minute/seconds divisions with Arabic five minutes/ seconds, subsidiary seconds and 30-minute register dials, outermost tachometer and telemeter scales. Luminous yellow gold “Alpha” hands. Notes Reference 4062 is one of Rolex’s most successful non-Oyster chronographs, which appeared in the catalogue for 21 years from 1942 to 1963. It is also of interest that in period advertising this watch cost 35% more than a stainless steel reference 5036 Oyster chrono-calendar.
