Ref. 5512 “Submariner” Rolex, “Oyster Perpetual, Submariner, 660 ft./200 m., Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified”, Ref. 5512/5513. Case No. 1379776. Made in 1966. Fine, center seconds, self-winding, waterresistant, stainless steel gentleman's wristwatch with a stainless steel Rolex riveted Oyster bracelet. Three-body, polished and brushed, screweddown case back and crown, graduated bi-directional revolving black bezel for the decompression times, "Triplock" winding-crown protected by the "crown guard". Black with luminous round, triangular and bâton indexes. Luminous "skeleton" hands. Cal. 1570, rhodium-plated, 26 jewels, straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance adjusted to five positions and temperatures, shock-absorber, self-compensating Breguet balance-spring, Microstella regulating screws. Dial, case and movement signed. Diam. 40 mm. Thickness 14 mm. Notes The present lot bears two reference numbers, 5512 between the lugs, which refers to the specific characteristics of this watch, and 5513 in the case back. References 5512 and 5513 are identical with the exception of the 5512 being a certified chronometer. The case bodies and backs were interchangeable at the factory.
