“Mother and Daughter” Breguet à Paris, Swiss. Made circa 1790. Fine, quarter repeating, 18K gold and painted on enamel pocket watch. Two-body, “Directoire”, polished with engraved and pierced band, the back decorated with painted on enamel en grisaille figures of a mother and daughter seated on a grassy knoll, blue and white striped background and gold paillon border. White enamel with Arabic numerals, outer minute divisions and Arabic quarter-hour numerals, winding aperture at 2 o’clock, secured by a screw. Pierced gold hands. 41 mm., hinged gilt brass full plate with conical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock with polished steel end-piece, silver regulation dial, repeating on a bell in the back of the case activated by depressing the pendant. Dial and movement signed. Diam. 52 mm.
