“Pin Wheel Escapement” Joseph Feune a Delemont (Jura, Switzerland), case No. 18633. Made circa 1815. Fine and very rare, silver, pocket watch with pin wheel escapement. Four-body, “Empire”, polished, reeded band. Hinged gilt brass cuvette. White enamel with Breguet numerals, outer minute divisions, winding aperture at 2 o’clock. Pierced gold hands. 50 mm., frosted gilt brass, skeletonized back plate, standing barrel, three wheel train with five-spoke wheels, pin wheel escapement with two rows of equidistant vertical pins upon the upper surface of the escape wheel, elongated steel lever engaging with a single locking pin on the balance staff, plain brass three-arm balance, blued steel flat balance spring, polished steel endplate, index regulator. Cuvette and movement signed. Diam. 56 mm. Notes Joseph Feune Was born on May 5, 1779 in Delémont. His father, Jean-Baptiste Feune, was a watchmaker. Joseph had one brother named Vernier, who also became a watchmaker. In 1807 the family is recorded as living at No. 155 in Delémont. On September 29, 1813 he married Marie- Renée Fleury.
