“The Lighthouse” GLT (Guilmet), Paris, circa 1910. Fine and very rare steel and brass, eight day going, hour and half-hour striking automaton clock in the shape of a lighthouse Circular with upper glazed section revealing the revolving “lamp”, with three colored faceted crystals over gallery above “stone” work tower on slate base. Silver with radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions. Blued steel “Poker” hands. Circular, brass, large going barrel, anchor escapement, spring suspension with Y-shaped arrangement connecting to the pendulum which animates the “lamp”, micrometric regulator. Striking on a bell. Movement punched with maker’s mark. Dim. Height 60 cm base diameter 22 cm. Notes The following two lots are of the type called “industrial clocks”, due to the fact that their forms are inspired by the technology of their period.: bicycles, printing presses, airplanes, automobiles, locomotives, steam engines, lighthouses, battleships, etc. Their animation reproduces the real-life action of the objects they represent. They were produced in France from the end of the 19th century until the 1920s, using the classic “Paris” movement.
