“The Padlock” Swiss, probably Geneva. Made circa 1810. Fine and unusual, 18K gold, painted on enamel and pearl-set lady’s pendant watch designed as a padlock. Two-body, in form of a padlock, the cover decorated with a painted on enamel cherub holding a heart and sitting on a cloud, royal blue translucent enamel background over sunray engine-turning, split-pearl set border, the back decorated with a cherub standing on a split-pearl-set key and playing with two doves, background and border decorated to match the front. White enamel with Breguet numerals, outer minute track. Gold “arrow” hands. 24 mm., gilt brass, full plate, fusee and chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, continental balance cock, regulation dial. Dim. 42 x 32 mm.
