“The Serenade” Romilly, à Paris, No. 6204. Made circa 1775. Fine, 20K vari-colored gold and painted on enamel pocket watch. Two-body, “Louis XV”, the back painted with a young lady being serenaded by musicians and dancers in a landscape, the vari-colored border chased with pastoral trophies and flowers in relief, bezel decorated with flowers in relief. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track with five-minute Arabic numerals, winding aperture at 4 o’clock. Gold “Louis XV” hands. 37 mm, hinged, gilt brass full plate with pentagonal baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, micrometric potence adjustment, plain steel three-arm balance, flat balance spring, continental cock, silver regulation disc.
