“Gold Pair-Cased” Wm. Webster, Exchange AIIey, London, No. 1193. London hallmarks for 1730. Fine 22K gold pair-cased pocket watch. Outer: two-body, polished, by Henry Rawlins (master mark). Inner: Two-body, polished, by Henry Rawlins (master mark), split bezel. Gold, matted and polished with “champlevé” radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and Arabic five minute numerals, center with signature cartouches. Gold “Spade” hands. 37 mm., gilt, full plate, square baluster pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, three-arm flat-rim steel balance, short steel balance spring, pierced and engraved foliate winged balance cock, silver regulation disc. Dial and movement signed, inner case numbered. Diam. 49 mm. Notes William Webster Was apprenticed to and a journeyman with Thomas Tompion, he became free of the Clockmakers Company in 1710 and died in 1734.
