"Turquoise Star" Giteau, a Paris, Eleve de Breguet, No. 854, Made circa 1830. Very fine, 18K varicolored gold, turquoise-set, granulation decorated watch with a matching turquoise-set gold key. To be sold without reserve Two-body, “bassine”, with fixed back, decorated with graduated turquoises and graduated granulation forming a large rosette, band with applied floral pattern, front bezel en suite with turquoises, applied flowers, and granulations. Gold, Roman numerals on matte background, center with applied varicolored gold rosette, outer border with applied gold floral decoration. Blued steel “Breguet” hands. 36 mm, hinged, frosted gilt fullplate with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, three-arm brass balance with flat balance spring, continental cock with polished steel endplate, silver regulation disc. Movement signed. Diam. 45 mm. Property of a Swiss Collector Notes Giteau He was a pupil of Breguet. After his studies with the Master, he set up shop in Paris in the Galerie de Valois. He is known for making some very interesting and unusual pieces, such as an astronomical clock with orrery sold by Antiquorum on June 14, 2003, lot 80.
