Very fine and rare, quarter-repeating, 22K gold and enamel, diamond and pearl-set pocket watch with outer protective case and a gold and enamel chatelaine. Outer: two-body, gold, protective with glazed back, inner: three-body, “consular”, the back in translucent Imperial blue enamel over “sunburst” engine-turning with applied diamondset rosette in the center, pearl-set bezels, fixed gold cuvette. Chatelaine: graduated oval and circular panels with filigree decoration, two tassels, two keys and an urn-shaped seal en suite. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute dot divisions. Diamond-set “arrowhead” hands. 42 mm (19’’’), hinged, frosted gilt full-plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance with flat balance spring, continental cock, silver regulation disc, repeating on bell activated by depressing the pendant. Movement signed. Diam. 58 mm. Notes John Marie is recorded in New Bond Street, London from 1771. He was declared bankrupt!.
