“Paris Oignon” Josue Panier a Paris. Made circa 1710. Fine, gilt brass, single-hand oignon pocket watch with central winding. Two-body, back chased and engraved with strapwork and foliage, foliate border and bezel, square hinge, loose ring pendant. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, inner quarterhour ring. Blued steel "tulip" hand. 46 mm, winding from the front only, frosted gilt full plate, divided Egyptian pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm steel balance, pierced and chased cock decorated with inhabited foliage and a profile mask, Tompion-type regulator with silver scale disc. Movement signed. Diam. 58 mm. Property of a Swiss Collector Notes Josue Panier Became master in 1703 and is recorded in the Rue de la Verrerie in 1748.
