Ref. 4560, "Claw Lugs" Vacheron & Constantin, Genève, No. 463779, case No. 328731, Ref. 4560. Made in 1952. Very fine and rare, 18K pink gold gentleman's wristwatch with triple date and claw lugs. Two-body, polished and brushed, inclined bezel, stepped claw lugs. Brushed silver with applied pink gold triangular indexes and Roman numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds dial, outer graduation for the date, apertures for the days of the week and the months. Pink gold "baton" hands. Cal. 485, rhodium-plated, "fausses côtes" decoration, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance adjusted to temperatures, self-compensating blued steel Breguet balance spring, shock absorber, swan-neck micrometer regulator. Dial, case and movement signed. Diam. 35.5 mm. Thickness 11 mm. Notes Ref. 4560 These are excellent examples of watches with the so-called “claw lugs” that were fashionable for almost two decades, from the beginning of the 1940s to the end of the 1950s. These lugs, which were featured on watches with various types of complications, were extremely surprising and effective.
