"Summer Bouquet" Bovet, Fleurier, No. 244. Made for the Chinese market, circa 1870. Fine, silver gilt and painted on enamel, pearl-set, centerseconds pocket watch with lever escapement. Three-body, "Empire", the back enamel panel finely painted with a bouquet of summer flowers over a pale blue ground, the bezels, pendant and bow set with split-pearls. Gilt-rimmed glazed cuvette hinged to the movement ring. White enamel with narrow radial Roman numerals and outer minute and seconds divisions, outer Arabic fifteen-minute numerals. Blued steel "ovoid" hands. Gilt brass, Chinese caliber with freestanding barrel, counterpoised straight-line lever escapement, bimetallic compensation balance with temperature and meantime adjustment screws, blued steel flat balance-spring, index regulator.
