“Au Comte Malicheff” Breguet, "HOR. ger DE LA MARINE ROYALE", No. 3535, sold to Count Malicheff on April 11, 1820 for 1320 Francs. Very fine and very rare, small 20K gold lady’s pendant watch with ruby cylinder escapement, eccentric dial, short gold chain and gold Breguet key, in Breguet fitted Morocco box. Four-body, "forme quatre baguettes", by Tavernier, No. 3725, engine-turned back “grains d’orge”, reeded bezels and band. Gold detachable cuvette with apertures for the winding and regulation. Double-link chain. Silver, champlevé radial Roman numerals on a brushed chapter ring, outer dot minute divisions, engine-turned center and lower border. Gold “Breguet” hands. Notes Count Malicheff bought at least four watches from Breguet in 1820 and in 1821, all small watches like this one. One of them was delivered through Prince Nicolas Troubetzkoi, who was aide-de-camp of Tsar Alexander I and his chief intelligence officer.
