“King Charles Spaniel” Geneva, No. 51062. Made circa 1810. Fine and rare, 18K gold, painted on enamel and split pearl-set lady’s pendant watch. Two-body, the sprung front cover decorated with a painted on enamel depiction of a seated spaniel, alternating radial lines of split-pearls and orange enamel circles, split-pearl border, the back cover further decorated with split-pearls and a stylized tree with royal blue, black and white enamel decoration. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions. Blued steel “Breguet” hands. 24 mm., frosted gilt, full plate, fusee with chain, cylinder escapement, the escape wheel recessed within the backplate, plain three-arm balance, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator. Movement inscribed “Transformation par A. Jeannot-Droz a Besançon. Diam. 30 mm. Notes The escapement of this watch was upgraded from a verge to a cylinder escapement at the request of the A. Jeannot-Droz and the movement was inscribed with these details.
