”Allegory of Love” Chevalier & Comp. , Geneva, No. 3652, circa 1800. Very fine 18K yellow gold and painted on enamel pocket watch. Two-body, “Directoire”, the back with a polychrome enamel depiction of a young lady with a dove’s nest in her lap and a cupid at her left under a tree on a translucent blue enamel over guilloché ground, blue and white diamond patterned enamel to the bezel. White enamel, Arabic numerals, outer minute divisions, Arabic fifteen minutes winding aperture at 2 with arrow mount. Gold “fancy” hands.. 41 mm , frosted gilt full-plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement brass balance with flat balance spring, continental cock pierced and engraved with the letters “CHEVALIER”.
