“Minute-Repeater Chronograph” Swiss, “Repetition à Quarts & Minutes, Seconde Chronographe”, No. 2863. Made for the Hispanic market, circa 1888. Very fine, large, minute-repeating, hunting-cased, keyless, 18K gold pocket watch with chronograph. Four-body, "pomme et filet", solid, polished, the back cover with engraved dedication. Hinged gold cuvette engraved with the technical details, glazed gold-rimmed cover to view the movement. White enamel threepiece, with painted radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, fifth of a second chronograph divisions calibrated t0 300 units, subsidiary seconds dial. Blued steel "Breguet" hands. Cal. 20’’’, rhodium-plated, "fausses-côtes" decoration, 31 jewels, counterpoised straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band, visible chronograph work. Dial, case and movement signed. Diam. 57 mm. Notes The inscription engraved on the interior of the back cover reads: “Jockey Club, Octobre 7, 1888, Juan Acebal”.
